It is very important to understand that the floating rafts of sargassum provide an immense nursery resource to all manner of aquatic wildlife, both offshore and inshore, if/when it arrives and accumulates there. When it does, it provides protection from beach erosion.
Fishing and tourism *depend* on sargassum, however indirectly.
