RT by @CarloCalenda: The Altar of the Blessed Sacrament inside Rome's Basilica of St John Lateran incorporates four rare gilded bronze columns from an ancient monument dating to the 1st-2nd century. It is thought that the spectacular columns may have been taken from the ruins of the Temple of Jupiter on the Capitoline Hill in the 16th century. Tradition holds that before their use in the temple, the columns were recast from melted bronze rams from the ships of Antony and Cleopatra defeated at Actium in 31 BC.
