5) Cap on Russian gas

We must cut Russia’s revenues which Putin uses to finance this atrocious war against Ukraine.

We are prepared for this.

At the beginning of the war, Russia’s pipeline gas was 40% of all imported gas.

Today it is now only 9% of our gas imports.

4) Liquidity Support for energy utility companies

They must be supported to cope with the volatility of the markets.

We will update our temporary framework to enable state guarantees to be delivered rapidly.

3) Solidarity contribution for fossil fuel companies

Oil and gas companies have also made massive profits.

We will therefore propose a solidarity contribution for fossil fuel companies.

2) Cap on revenues of companies producing electricity with low costs.

Low carbon energy sources are making unexpected revenues.

Time for consumers to benefit from their low costs

We will propose to re-channel these unexpected profits to support vulnerable people and companies.

1) Smart Savings of Electricity

We need a strategy to flatten the peaks, which drive the price of electricity.

The situation in Ukraine requires our full support.

Today the @EU_Commission proposes an additional €5 billion in macro-financial assistance for the country.

This is on top of the €10 billion the EU already provided in financial, humanitarian and military aid.

On top of the €10 billion we have provided so far, we will propose an additional €5 billion in macro-financial assistance this week.

At EU level, we diversify sources, save energy and store it. Our gas storage is already filled at 80%.
 
But to cut our dependence on Russian fossil fuels, we need renewables. 
 
The commitments taken today would already deliver 1/3 of our 2030 target for offshore wind in the EU.
