@aarnegranlund@mastodon.social Thanks for the comment. You're right it's quite flashy. We could force all media posted by this account to be marked sensitive but do you think that would be an improvement on average?

@JackWolf Sorry about that, clearly mirroring doesn't go in that direction. Please mute the entire instance (if you didn't already), we won't be offended.

@petrescatraian Comment received. I'm afraid the Copernicus staff didn't check replies on this side, after all this is just a mirror. Maybe an email would have worked?

@petrescatraian No, there isn't, but you can send patches to to implement a feature to map Twitter mentions to fediverse mentions.

We redirect accounts to official accounts when possible and useful (for example respublicae.eu/@EUCourtPress ). The @EU_Commission account provides better mirroring features compared to the often broken mirror at social.network.europa.eu/users , so it wasn't redirected yet.

@hias1234 We didn't stop. As you can see in the Nitter link, the image was posted by a user who's not mirrored on .

@nellie_m@home.social That's a good point and you can send comments to the relevant service with Europe Direct:
european-union.europa.eu/conta

Description of images in the European Commission accounts mirrored in is typically provided in the text of the post or in the linked documents. Sometimes you unfortunately have to follow links through Nitter.

In this case for example the description of the image is "cloud-free view of the Viedma and Argentino glacial lakes in Argentina".

One issue of an excessive usage of the "bot" flag is that users cannot follow accounts marked as .
github.com/pixelfed/pixelfed/i

followers were well over 50,000 yesterday.

Activity is now picking up again with the new wave.

Follow links to the sources through Nitter to verify posts.

Due to unexpected output in Twitter's v1 API, some quote tweets have been posted on as if they were authored by the quoted user.

The issue is now handled by our mirror sofware thanks to swift action by the developer. It lasted perhaps a few hours while a new version was being tested.

The cases we noticed were deleted manually.

We apologise for the confusion.

Hopefully this additional load is welcome and our redirects don't overload the server! 😅 Now we can more easily switch away if our usage is unwelcome.

The crossposter now points to our own domain n.respublicae.eu so that we can update its target to whichever privacy-friendly EU instance of is most suitable at any given time.

Thanks nitter.eu and nitter.it for the service so far, and thanks to @ChatonsOrg member @lacontrevoie for providing nitter.lacontrevoie.fr! We were immediately seduced by the clear and well-principled privacy policy: lacontrevoie.fr/mentions-legal .

@jeppe We're in contact with the folks at , they let us know when such new accounts appear and we redirect the unofficial ones. Hopefully they soon get all the commissioners!

There still isn't a good way to look for other accounts, because I couldn't find any dataset listing EU agencies/orgs/initiatives/whatever, let alone their social network handles. Most of the accounts in respublicae.eu/explore aren't on yet.

Some might be relatively easy to add, like all the language/country variants of the and accounts. (But these might also be run by distinct entities, like local representation offices.)

The query to find accounts for MEPs has been updated on our frontpage:
w.wiki/62$8

It now includes languages and political groups so that you can more easily find accounts you want to follow (or mute!).
