@SuddenWidow It took me a long time not to feel defined by it. But it does happen, slowly but surely. And then you reach the stage where it’s just part of who you are… a fundamental part, but not the defining part. Keep going. A day at a time x

It’s even worse than it first appeared.

“Scrapping the 45p rate gives £1 BILLION in tax savings to just 2,500 people, each with over £3.5m in income. On average, that’s an extra £400k for each of them, every year…”
RT @D_Burgherr: I think people haven’t yet priced in exactly who gains from abolishing the 45p rate…

This isn’t about cuts for people on £150k, or even £200k. Most of the gain goes to those *much* higher up.

I did…

@SharpStu Absolutely! I’m a firm supporter.
We basically have coalitions already within both Labour and the Tories. Not sure how long they’d hang together if we had PR but that could well be a good thing - more choice, more nuance and less influence for the extremists

This is huge.

Was it the Times or the Telegraph who said if this happened it would ensure the Tories stayed out of power for at least a generation… if not longer.

Bring it on…
RT @MakeVotesMatter: 💥 BREAKING: Labour Conference has voted to "make a manifesto commitment to Proportional Representation at the next election."

We are closer to real change than we have been in decades. Bring on the next steps!

Having been elected to a PR Parliament I can vouch for it enthusiastically. The need to build coalitions means moderate voices drown out the extremists. The Truss/Kwarteng faction wouldn’t get a look in.

Shocked that you can publicly support this budget, Anthony.
The pound in freefall. Hedge fund managers shorting.
Interest rate rises looming which will cripple those with mortgages. Tax breaks for the rich while average earners better off by around £125 as food prices soar.
RT @AnthonyMangnal1: More people will have more money in their end of month pay slips. Simple as.

This statement is good for growth, for the UK economy, fo…

That increase won't even be noticeable given the increased living costs. And rural communities hit harder by fuel price rises - made worse by falling £.

The markets don't get spooked like that for no reason. This is casino economics by a gambling government and their rich mates

@DavidWa01448973 Lovely memories. That circular trip is still very popular!
Thank you

@DavidWa01448973 The hills of Dartmouth and Brixham are even more of a challenge! It’ll keep me fit that’s for sure

Recent election results in Tiverton and Honiton and North Shropshire show that rural communities feel neglected and taken for granted by a government whose priorities clearly lie elsewhere. I look forward to offering a real alternative to the out of touch Conservatives.

Very excited to announce that I have been selected by local members to contest the next election in Totnes constituency. Our closest seat in Devon, Totnes has been my home for 15 years and I'm proud to be standing up for a community that desperately wants to see change.
