Today is a good day for climate: EU climate laws now match our ambition.

This final adoption puts the EU on the right path to implement our 2030 target.

The ETS will be strengthened and Member States will have more revenues to reinvest and redistribute for a fair transition ⬇️

Investing in carbon-free mobility and heating has benefits for everyone, including through cleaner air and lower bills.

Those who can pay for heat pumps and solar panels will have a stronger incentive to do so. For those who can’t do this on their own support will be available.

Fossil fuel and energy companies🏭will also have to start buying emission permits for the fuels used in road transport and heating.

This will create a stronger incentive to clean transport and make buildings more energy efficient.

The Emissions Trading System will be strengthened and expanded, to include maritime transport🚢and aviation✈️.

Great to be in Bucharest for a very constructive meeting with President @KlausIohannis on Romania’s green transition and the support given to Ukrainians in the face of Putin’s war. As a frontline state Romania deserves our full solidarity. It will get its fair share of support.

More renewables means less fossil fuel imports and more cheaper, cleaner energy sources for citizens and business.

Zero-emission mobility has to be supported by the right infrastructure, ready for you when you need it, where you need it. Every driver in Europe should be certain that they can travel in confidence throughout the continent. This agreement makes it possible ⬇️

With @EUCouncil’s final vote today the EU has taken an important step towards zero-emission mobility.

The direction is clear: in 2035 new cars and vans must have zero emissions. It brings a big contribution to climate neutrality by 2050 and is a key part of the #EUGreenDeal.
