RT by @Rory_Palmer: In 14yrs Tories have decimated neighbourhood policing

They’ve cut 10,000 neighbourhood police & PCSOs from streets

Half the country say they never see police on beat

The Tories have failed & have only empty words

Labour has a plan for 13,000 more neighbourhood police & PCSOs

As Prime Minister, I will roll up my sleeves to deliver it.

RT by @Rory_Palmer: So Alan Bates, who's led the campaign for justice for sub-postmasters has just had his full and final offer of compensation from Gov, but it's only about a 1/6th of what he claimed. Derisory and cruel, he says.

RT by @Rory_Palmer: After months of denial the Home Secretary finally admits it - government reforms have meant too many police officers are away from the front line. Meaning 10,000 fewer neighbourhood police.

His answer: more talk, of course.

@UKLabour have a plan: 13,000 more police and PCSOs.

Based on the Government’s own figures, 36 of 41 other police forces will get a more generous funding allocation than Leicestershire.
This isn’t good enough.
If I’m elected as Police Commissioner, I won’t accept this.
We deserve and need our fair share.

Why are all these police forces getting a more generous funding settlement than Leicestershire?
I won’t accept this.
If I’m elected Police & Crime Commissioner, it will be a priority from day one to get our police and area the fair funding we need: we deserve our fair share.

RT by @Rory_Palmer: Deeply disappointed that the Government chose to vote against - once again - creating a specific offence of violence against retail workers.

This violence is at epidemic level. @UKLabour support @UsdawUnion’s campaign for a new offence to tackle it.

Violence against shopworkers is increasing.
I support a specific new offence - alongside strengthened neighbourhood policing - to tackle it.
Deeply disappointing that today the Conservative Government voted against a new offence.

I totally support this.
I’ve heard from local shopworkers about dreadful incidents. It’s completely unacceptable that retail staff are facing abuse, aggression and violence.
We need tougher action: strengthened laws and more frontline police in communities.

RT by @Rory_Palmer: My Labour government will always value the pound in your pocket.

We will tackle the cost of living crisis, get Britain’s economy growing again and get our country’s future back.

I’m delighted that @icelandrichard backs Labour’s plans for business.

Thinking back to Saturday’s

event. We often reflect on why we must support young people to become leaders of tomorrow - and that’s essential - but young people are leaders of today as well.

R to @Rory_Palmer: It’s always interesting, inspiring and important to hear young people’s perspectives on how society can confront and challenge hate and prejudice.

This is why the vital work of organisations like @HolocaustUK @HMD_UK @HolocaustCentUK
is so important and must be supported.

Awful that a deliberate fire was started last night at Goldhill Adventure Playground causing damage to a building and the site.
I called in earlier today to see Dee and the team, Goldhill does brilliant work supporting young people and the wider community

R to @Rory_Palmer: in the area I used to represent as a councillor. They run a range of vital services and provision for young people, and a food bank. I hope Goldhill is back open again soon, and those responsible are identified.
