2⃣ @EU_Commission takes action with stronger #AssetRecovery rules and tools.
Asset recovery is a powerful tool. We need to deprive the criminals of what matters the most to them: money.

1⃣ By adding the violation of EU restrictive measures to the list of EU crimes - it will be easier to investigate, prosecute & punish such violations across EU.
Now the Member States have to agree to the initiative, before we can propose a legal text ⤵️
The @EU_Commission is proposing today new rules on freezing and confiscating assets of criminals and oligarchs violating EU restrictive measures. 🧵↓

This is why we are proposing today:
1⃣ to add the violation of EU restrictive measures to the list of EU crimes
2⃣ new reinforced rules on asset recovery and confiscation
Tomorrow’s @EU_Commission College will be focused on cross-border cooperation between Member States in the field of law enforcement.
For a stronger #SchengenEU area, the priorities for the year to come will be:
➡️ Strengthen management of the external borders
➡️ Internal border controls as last resource
➡️ Strengthen internal #SecurityEU through police cooperation

1⃣ first annual State of #SchengenEU report
2⃣ report on systematic checks at external borders
3⃣ and launching a consultation on the future of the EU Integrated Border Management

We are ready to take a leading role in the international reconstruction efforts to help rebuild a democratic and prosperous #Ukraine.
Future investments will go hand in hand with reforms that will support Ukraine in pursuing its European path.🇺🇦🇪🇺
In the longer run, we are proposing the setting up of a ‘#Ukraine reconstruction platform’, an international coordination platform, co-led by the @EU_Commission and Ukraine to take forward the ‘#RebuildUkraine’ reconstruction plan.
In the short term to sustain basic services & help meet urgent needs, the @EU_Commission is proposing to put forward up to 9 billion additional macro-financial assistance in the form of loans in 2022.
While Russia’s aggression continues, today @EU_Commission has set out a comprehensive plan for both immediate response to address #Ukraine’s financing gap, as well as the longer-term reconstruction framework #RebuildUkraine ⬇️
