@KarlPritch86 @BBCPolitics Why would I defend or call out anyone, on either side? I was just stating the fact that there was a later example. Kuwait had been invaded three months earlier, war was afoot, hence my comment about early stages. Special Forces were most probably already operating on the ground.

@KarlPritch86 @BBCPolitics Iraq invaded Kuwait on 2nd August 1990. The war was already on the cards, and planning was well ahead when Major replaced her. I also recall some daft propaganda from Saddam at that point time bizarrely claiming that he’d caused her to go.

Surely there’s enough of a consensus amongst Members of both Houses of Parliament, to support legislation forcing any members of the Commons and Lords who are convicted of a serious crime, to lose their seats?
It must be the one issue that the public wholeheartedly endorse.
