RT by @HelgaTruepel: “In this house we don’t use the nickname Bibi”, my father said 30 years ago. “He is no friend of ours”.
They met in Jerusalem when they were kids, in the home of Professor Klausner, my great-great uncle. It was dislike at first sight.
Shortly after #Netanyahu became Likud leader, my father diagnosed him as a crook and schemer, set on helping Hamas in order to undermine the Oslo agreement with the PLO.
Most of all, he detested Netanyahu’s rhetoric. A person who manipulates language will manipulate anything, dad said.
When Netanyahu lost the 1999 election, my father famously quipped “it’s like a compressor working outside your window day and night, that has suddenly stopped. First of all, the quiet”.
I hope that very soon I would be able to visit dad’s grave in Kibbutz Hulda and tell him, “abba, the compressor has stopped”.
