The fishing communities can only prosper with a healthy marine environment & fish in the sea. The Action Plan will help safeguard the future of the fishing sector & #OurOcean.

The proposed actions will accelerate the transition to more sustainable fishing practices by
🐟 increasing selectivity
🐟 preventing incidental catch of sensitive species
🐟 gradually phasing out mobile bottom fishing in all #MPAs by 2030

No major changes happen overnight.
This gradual transition needs to be supported by:
💶 targeted funding
🎣 research for innovative fishing techniques
