R to @EU_Commission: 🗳️ 45 years since the first European elections

The first European elections were held in June 1979 – a historic moment when Simone Veil was elected as the first female president of the European Parliament.

This year we marked another milestone with the 10th EU election in history taking place from 6th to 9th of June 2024.
