In order to get more people diagnosed and treated, it is important to ensure that testing is widely available and easily accessible.
Our annual reports show, that only eight countries were able to estimate the proportion of people diagnosed with #hepatitisB and only seven for #hepatitisC.
Among these, only around half met the target of having at least 50% of their population diagnosed.
There are an estimated 4.7 mln chronic #hepatitisB cases & 3.9 mln chronic #hepatitisC cases in the EU/EEA.
As many people infected do not show symptoms, this ‘silent disease’ is often not diagnosed. Left untreated it may progress to liver cirrhosis or cancer.
