Six years since the referendum, and here's the bottom line. The British economy is outperforming the eurozone's. UK growth in 2021 was 7.4% (versus 5.3% in the eurozone) and in 2022 is predicted to be 3.7% (versus 2.8%).

Sir Henry had been elected as an Ulster Unionist MP after playing a distinguished role in the WW1. He wanted regular troops to pacify Ireland, and was horrified instead to see the Black and Tans and their reprisals. One of several @OldMarlburians who deserves to be better known.

A measure of the BBC’s reflexive anti-Britishness is that, when fictionalising this murder in Peaky Blinders, Sir Henry Wilson - in real life a brave and honourable general - is made out to be a seedy rapist, so that the series can glorify the IRA.
