I cried when I read the messages I received on LinkedIn and Instagram from people all over the world. It revealed to me the profound loneliness of Jews around the world. It revealed something to me... even though I was aware that there was anti-Semitism, but this loneliness kept coming back, all the time. “Listening to you made me feel less alone.” “Listening to you made me feel supported.”
And that made me so sad, because I was being told “thank you” for something that was totally normal in my opinion.
We live in a world where defending the fact that Jews are human beings is something exceptional and that makes me extremely sad.
It also makes me want to fight harder for human rights and for our values because I think we have to put things right, we can’t go on like this. Finally, I’ve also heard people say “But what can we do?
You just have to express yourself, express the voice you have. All I can do is be the voice of the people in the European Parliament, that’s what I promised before I was elected and that’s what I’m going to continue doing.
We can do this together. 🫶🏾
