They worry about the safety of Jews worldwide. On TV, Mattie and Myrna see anti-Jewish marches in European cities, following Israel's reaction to the Hamas massacre on Oct. 7. "That threat is coming in even harder now," says Mattie Tugendhaft. "Back then, we weren't as aware."
Myrna: "We were kids, we barely understood what was happening."
Mattie: "I was sitting on my father's lap. We had to leave for a while, he said, because otherwise the Germans would kill us. I was allowed to choose another first name, my real name was Majer. I chose Mattie.”
