Indifference is the grave of our future.
We met Israeli Foreign Minister

today at the European Parliament together with colleagues and families of hostages. Horrifying stories. A father testifies about the brutal murder of his mother-in-law, in front of his wife and two small daughters. All three were then kidnapped by Hamas. He had to find out through a TikTok video. He has not heard from his wife for a month, neither from his daughters aged 2 and 4.
Today I heard several moving testimonies of family members whose lives were completely ruined when terror organisation Hamas attacked. Simply because they are Jews.
Today, I once again saw images of the killing and burning of innocent people. The ordeal of the families is unfathomable. I heard the voices and the screams. Saw their blood. Heard the gunshots and the killers enjoying it. You know they shouted Allah Akbar. We all do. These innocent people were killed because they are Jewish and existed, just like us. Hamas did this. Will the world listen to the victims and help end terrorism?
European citizens are right now also held hostage and tortured or killed. Free the world from Hamas. As one of the fathers of kidnapped German citizens puts it “does a passport of a European country means anything”?
It does not mean anything to those who protest to support Hamas because they turn their back to what Europe is. We as Europe must help put and end to Islamic terrorism and to anti-Semitism or it will put an end to us.
This battle is a battle for humanity. The atrocities of October 7 and the situation in the Middle East remind us that indifference is the grave of our common future and that it is our responsibility to have a conscience and use it.
This is not the world we want.
Inhuman scenes.
