I welcome steps towards normalizing relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. A historic peace treaty is closer than ever. It will serve both countries and nations, but also benefit the region as a whole.
Both leaders should feel our support to achieve this long-desired goal, which has been for too long sabotaged and blocked by Moscow. And we need to offer prospects for the future. That's why I tabled this amendment to be voted on next week.

, I attended the 14th EU-West Nordic Council meeting to discuss the implementation of the renewed EU Arctic strategy, including the sustainable economy, risks emanating from Chinese investments, and security issues. We should understand that the indigenous people of the Russian Federation are among the first victims of Putin’s aggression against Ukraine. At the same time, we can observe the weaponization of migration by Russia, which affects the northern countries right now. The other concern is threats to strategic infrastructure, such as fiber cables and pipelines. It’s not surprising that Sweden and Findland are strengthening their security by joining NATO.
We need to remain vigilant when it comes to any form of cooperation with Russia, including scientific cooperation.

Simply because there are far too many forces in the world who believe that brutal military force is the best way to achieve their goals. If they see that Russian aggression caused Moscow some trouble, sanctions, and isolation but ultimately paid off, nothing will stop them from repeating Russia’s actions in other parts of the world.

Russians not only kill Ukrainian citizens and destroy infrastructure, but also cause enormous damage to the environment, contaminating soil, air, and water and destroying biodiversity. I witnessed it in Donbas many times before February 2022 and since then it has deeply deteriorated further.
All of us will pay for years for this toxic legacy of Russian imperialism. I sincerely hope that all those ecological movements, which have been used for years by Russians as a tool in their hands, will consider this reality.
In order to be successful, we have to deter Russia and support Ukrainians in defending their own country. And make Russia accountable for everything it does in Ukraine. It's extremely important to create a special Tribunal which lead Russia to responsibility for everything it does, including environmental damages.

RT by @AnnaFotyga_PE: .@europarl_en adopted the resolution, introduced by MEP @AnnaFotyga_PE, on the killing of Tamaz Ginturi, calling for sanctions on responsible individuals violating Georgia's territorial integrity.

"Parliament urges the Russian Federation to implement the EU-mediated 2008 Ceasefire Agreement, withdraw all occupation forces, and release all Georgian citizens in the illegal custody of the occupation regime.

MEPs also call on the Council to impose targeted sanctions on those responsible for violations of Georgian sovereignty, territorial integrity and human rights, and denounce Russian interference in the domestic politics of Georgia," the resolution reads.

Tamaz Ginturi was killed by the Russian occupation forces in Georgia near Kirbali village as he was visiting the village church sealed by the Russian troops.
